It appears the new Volt is a goddamn home run.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Edit: Yes we all know it looks vaguely similar to a Civic, now stop commenting that it looks like a Civic.

Yay! More gasoline for me!
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:00 |

It looks......better?
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:01 |

I would have a Volt over the new Prius.

Nice civic
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:04 |

It looks remarkably like a Honda Civic. Which is a significant improvement.

Good for them. I still think this is the best stop-gap drivetrain design for the next couple decades. It just hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves. Doesn’t help that the ELR was DOA.

We're still not over this? Jesus.

God I’d hope so. That monstrosity should’ve never left the drawing board.

Unfortunately it looks like an Acura and a Ford Focus had some catastrophic cross-breeding.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:18 |

With that front grille it looks like an Acura version of the Civic.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:20 |

I think it's rather attractive but whatever.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:21 |

Except with gas being cheap hybrid sales are on the decline. Less gas for you, actually.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:21 |

I agree, it looks more like an Acura anyway
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:21 |

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still my favorite mainstream hybrid.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:26 |

Even I won’t defend that. Though I’d have to do something about the Volt’s Grillz.

I like it. Hopefully they got rid of the little chamber in the dash where the gear selector was. My dad literally couldn’t select a gear, because his hand was too big to fit.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:27 |

It actually looks pretty damn good.

I liked the ELR a lot, but it was too expensive and not enough car to be successful. Not that I was going to buy one anyways.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:29 |

I like it. I don't like the relatively terrible gas mileage. Chevy needs to do better.

Includes a center seat belt because - why? Still, the interior is MILES better. I drove the old one and I quite liked it, the new one looks legitimately good. Makes you wonder why GM can make world beating cars when it wants to (Corvette, Cadillac, Volt, etc) but absolute crap when its not in the mood.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:37 |

Hopefully those cupholders are removable or something...
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:40 |

Civic? Nah, it looks like:
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:40 |

Thats where the battery is, so no. I was thinking “well, car seat” but not in that tiny space. I’m thinking its for the short trip down the street to drop a fellow off.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:53 |

Young kids in a booster seat are fine there. As long as there aren’t adults on either side
![]() 09/01/2015 at 12:58 |
|
yeah...I don’t think there is enough space between the belts for even a booster, but I could be wrong.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:01 |

I’ve done the ‘squish three kids across a small bench’ before. The middle kid doesn’t sit until the other two are buckled. Definitely not suitable for daily use, but okay to squeeze in somebody else’s kid for a quick trip.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:02 |

Dark grey or black plastidip would cure that real quick.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:03 |
|
yeah, I think I would call it a 4+1 seater. In that technically it can seat 5, but don’t subject a person to that very often.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:03 |

I think it went more traditional this time. Not just for the shifter but the entire interior is more Cruze-like.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:04 |
|
Well that’s not broad at all..
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:06 |
|
Because people bitched about the lack of one even though with how the battery is designed a third seat in the back is basically impossible.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:08 |
|
I don’t particularly like the designs that mimic the mesh of a real grill. Unless that is key to the aerodynamics of the car, I have a feeling someone will come up with another fix.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:39 |

Looks like a new-Crude with braces.
Or an Acura ILX.
In other words, boring.
...but better than the next-gen Prius, probably.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:42 |

I don’t think GM really makes absolute crap anymore...
The Sonic is a bit dated by now, but the new Spark looks a long ways nicer than the old one. Same with the Cruze and the new Malibu, as long as we set aside exterior styling, which is ‘love it or hate it’ on basically every Chevy. The Bolt is set up to be a game changer.
The whole Chevrolet brand is making impressive strides with the 2016 MY. It’s as much of a Renaissance as Ford made a few years ago
![]() 09/01/2015 at 13:48 |

I agree, they are coming along nicely, but they still have a long way to go in their car market re: longevity/durability.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 14:38 |

Nope, those cupholders sit along the battery tunnel.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 15:22 |

Hmm then if they really wanted to be green they should make the poor chap walk!
![]() 09/01/2015 at 15:24 |
|
... Well. Perhaps it’s for people with no legs.
![]() 09/01/2015 at 15:30 |

“im sorry, I can’t pick you up...im saving the planet you know.”
![]() 09/01/2015 at 15:32 |

They can put their nubs in the cupholders! (So awful... I’m sorry)

The new Volt looks great, I like that it has great driving dynamics. It makes me wonder how many generations until one of the mass manufacturers (toyota, honda, chevy, ford, etc) comes out with a hot hybrid...
